Summary0004615: SDL. Game freezing on startup. Issues with firewall
DescriptionWith firewalls (confirmed on Comod Firewall) game complertely freezes PC on startup, when in full screen mod.

Wo problems windowed.

Whenever user starts the game, it automatically go fullscreen and firewall launches its prompt which is never displayed, because DF is unable to minimize. Therefore, firewall totaly blocks tha application, which forces user to hard reset his machine.
Steps To ReproduceInstall Comodo Firewall;) Change init file to go fullscreen.

wasn't confirmed with other firewalls.
Additional InformationSolution - turn off the firewall or manually add the exclusion in the firewall options.

Although bug seems to be minor, it would totaly discourage me from playing the gamee (had to do like 15 hard resets before I found the solution) if I wasn't a DF oldtimer, who played the game few months ago on the same machine and the same OS;) New players could give up after first try.

Arguably, this is a problem with Comodo Firewall, not a problem with Dwarf Fortress.

Does the Legacy version of Dwarf Fortress behave the same way?

In Legacy, game minimizes properly so player can just click yes in the popup window and allow game write to disk.

This is propably something with minimizing the game before it has completely started. Posting it, as propably many players uses different firewalls, and it is really easy to discourage someone with hard resetting the pc.

Maybe, there could be a warning in init file or something?

As a workaround, depending on your key bindings, you can use F11 to switch between full/windowed. (see http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/40d:Controls)

Yeah, this sounds more like a problem with your firewall.
