Summary0005656: Crash upon startup of the dwarf fortress client, missing files?
DescriptionIt's nothing all that crazy or hard to fathom, when I start up the client it tells me I am missing Zlib1.dll, it is only dwarf fortress that is telling me this, and I have the file in my windows directory! I noticed that it was not in my game directory, however, and I was wondering if this is an issue everyone was having, or if I am doing something wrong? I cannot locate it in my game directory and it would be nice if someone could promptly respond to this, as I play the game every day and this is making it impossible to play!

In short, the game will not start due to a missing file, is anyone else experiencing this?
Steps To ReproduceDownload latest version of dwarf fortress, run the client with it installed like I do with the other versions.
Additional InformationIt doesn't happen with any other version of dwarf fortress, so I don't know what it could be!

This is weird. Zlib1.dll is part of the zipped package of the game, so it should be there in the same directory as the exe-file.

Has this crash happened just after you installed the latest version or after already playing it? If it is the former, then there was probably some problem with the unzipping. I recommed a fresh download and a fresh installation.

Reminder sent to: Eternalnight264

Have you tried redownloading and unzipping the game in a new folder? Also, what OS are you using? Installing the game in Program Files can cause problems on Vista/Win7.

I am on Win7, but the game is installed into an indie game folder on my desktop.
Trying other mirrors and redling also does not work!
I've tried manually getting the file, but it just says other files are missing :(

Wait, no! Mirror 2 has the file, but the others don't! I think I fixed it.

Okay, not sure what happened there, but let us know if you figure it out.
