Summary0008387: Hostile subterranean animal people are not hostile
DescriptionJust breached the caverns and sent the militia in to scout out the layer. Found a tribe of antmen that despite being labeled as Hostile in the units screen did not proceed to attack my troops.

Another interesting thing to note is the abundance of dead creatures I encountered. It seems the ant men actively hunted down the local wildlife or something to that effect occurred. Not sure if it's a bug as well, but I thought it was worth a mention.

Steps To Reproduce1. Breach a cavern layer that contains a hostile animal person tribe
2. Send some dwarves to investigate
3. Stare in awe of their pseudo-pacifist nature.

Yeah, had the animal people received names as in 0000842?

No, they hadn't. None of them were named.

OP sees it as a duplicate of 0007369 (follow link and see report)

Well, it might not be a duplicate of that report exactly- it's certainly related though.

Anyway - I have another save demonstrating this issue for .40.24.

You'll find my militia commander stationed in the center of a blind cave fish people camp. They are all labelled as hostile - but aren't attacking obviously. They'll only engage in combat if you place a kill order against one of them - and even then the rest of the camp will remain completely passive.

I think this is the same issue as 0007369. The issue with dead wildlife is interesting - it might be related to the dog-wildlife attacks mentioned in 0007369, but feel free to open another report if otherwise.
I'll add those two saves to 0007369.
