Description | The hard-coded properties of ash, potash and pearlash contain no heat damage, melting or evaporation points. As i understand it, pearlash is just purified potash (KCO3), which has a melting point of 891°C, which should translate to 11604°U (not magma-safe). It has no evaporation point, but rather decomposes at heat, although i couldn't find a quote for a precise temperature where that happens. It could be simulated by a somewhat arbitrary "heat damage point". Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potassium_carbonate Ash is a mixture of substances and thus has variable physical/chemical properties, but ashes in general will sinter/soften/melt in characteristic temperature ranges, eventually solidifying into slag after re-cooling. A cursory look suggests 1200°C is mentioned as typical "melting" temperature for wood ash, which is the ash used in Dwarf Fortress. 1200°C would be 12 160°U, just enough for magma-proofness. I could find no mention of what happens at even higher temperatures, but suspect a typical ash mixture would mostly boil away or decompose when heated beyond 2000°C.
