| Description | this save, http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=14086 , is a duplication of the issue found in fort mode. In fort mode, there was a shortage of crossbows so a newly assigned hunter grabbed a bow then had the ammo problem. The duplication test was done with a new embark. The steps were: craft some bolts, create a copper bow with dfhack, then assign the Jeweler the Hunting labor. He picked up the bow and quiver, then the game was saved. After the save is loaded, he will wander to the ammo stockpile and try to put the ammo in the quiver and fail and then try again, and again, etc. | ||||

What ammunition do you have assigned to hunters? |

The hunter ammo is on the default of bolts, and I understand that he is just "taking the next ammo stack from the ammo allocation". I tested further and crafted a crossbow. He didn't attempt to switch from the bow to the crossbow, and continued to attempt to pickup the bolts (he did eat/drink/sleep and some hauling as well, but always went quickly back to filling out his uniform). There is a lack of message to indicate the allocated ammo does not match the weapon, and no willingness to seek out another type of weapon. |
