Summary | 0010959: Giant and animal people milk and cheese use base creature name in food preferences
Description | Using DFHack to determine the food and drink preferences of units reveals that preferences for giant creature milk and cheese is printed as the base creature's milk and cheese respectively, while hacking in preferences for animal people cheese and milk is displayed by the unit screen as the base creature cheese and milk (I don't have any preference for animal people milk/cheese in my fortress, and don't know if that can occur naturally [and if so, rather buggily]).
Additional Information | This bug has increased in severity from inconsequential to misleading as a result of the increase weight of food needs, as it may cause overseers to stack up on base creature milk/cheese, when the required items are the giant version. This bug is related to the general food need bug report 0010954, as it's another bug affecting that area. Someone more familiar than I with how raw overrides work may be able to determine if this issue can be fixed with raw changes (in a fair number of places), or whether the raw parsing has to be modified to allow for the affected strings to be displayed correctly.
