Summary | 0010972: Cuttlefish, nautilus & other ocean vermin have no THOUGHT body part or NO_THOUGHT_CENTER_FOR_MOVEMENT
Description | Cuttlefish & nautiluses lack a body part with the THOUGHT tag or a NO_THOUGHT_CENTER_FOR_MOVEMENT. This also includes their variations (giant and man versions). This affects their ability to grasp, stand & perform certain attacks, though not all variations possess a GRASP or STANCE body part. All variations of cuttlefish have a GRASP body part (tentacle clubs). Cuttlefish men and nautilus men have both GRASP and STANCE body parts. Only normal nautiluses and giant nautiluses are unaffected because they do not have GRASP or STANCE body parts. Other creatures that also lack a THOUGHT body or NO_THOUGHT_CENTER_FOR_MOVEMENT include mussels and oysters. But because mussels and oysters have no GRASP or STANCE and lack creature variations, they are unaffected by this issue.
Steps To Reproduce | 1 (optional). Open raw/objects/creature_ocean_new.txt and remove VERMIN_FISH from the affected vermin (cuttlefish) if you want to spawn it in the object testing arena. 2. Open game and enter the object testing arena. 3. Spawn in one of the affected creatures (e.g. cuttlefish man). 4. Assume control of the creature. View its health status (z-h).
Additional Information | According to Wikipedia, cuttlefish and nautiluses possess brains (the in-game ones do not). Nautiluses have a simple brain, but there are other creatures with similar simple brains that have a brain in-game (such as snails). Mussels and oysters have no brains, so NO_THOUGHT_CENTER_FOR_MOVEMENT is more appropriate. In play this has little effect to the player. None of the affected creatures are playable by default, including cuttlefish & nautilus men, because aquatic animal people cannot join civilizations. Issue is only observed during wild encounters, which is also rare.
