Summary0012023: DF Cannot utilize the GPU, which cripples graphical framerate (Calc FPS unaffected)
DescriptionThis causes the game to 'jump' to catch up with sim FPS. In the free version of DF, usually the opposite happens. To really exaggerate this, set sim FPS to 100 and watch as Dwarves zoom around really fast but their sprites can't keep up. Screen size does not seem to do much here.

At first I thought the game had massively downgraded in simulation performance, something relating to A* due to the jumping effect. But since this is graphical FPS and not Sim FPS, I have no idea.

This is a MAJOR issue, even with 50.04 and ascii graphics, the scrolling is still janky.

This is especially noticeable now that you can switch to ASCII, game performance skyrockets in it.

In my experience resolution does change a lot. I get 15~ gfps on 1080p and 30~ gfps on 720p.
My pc specs:
CPU: Intel Celeron G1840 2.80 GHz 2 Cores (has integrated graphics)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750
RAM: 4 GB

I have another computer, which is way better than this one, but I only get +5 gfps compared to this one.
Some people don't seem to have this problem at all, I've seen a computer worse than mine and have 50 gfps on 1080p

For reference, DF v47 maintained a stable 100 GFPS on my M1 MacBook. However, with the new version, I can barely maintain 20-30 GFPS on my gaming PC. Performance is notably worse on higher resolutions.

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
RAM: 32GB
Display: 5k2k

Same here. Game runs pretty smooth if I switch to ASCII graphics

CPU: Ryzen 9 3950X
GPU: GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090
RAM: 32GB 3600MHz
Display: 3840x2160
Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD

Changing the display settings to be lower resolutions (1920x1080/1280x720) doesn't improve the FPS at all.

I have the same issue (3-7 FPS with 20 dwarfs) with the latest version (v50.07).
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz
Laptop: Razer Blade 2020
GPU: Integrated and NVidia GeForce RTX 2070.
RAM: 16 GB
