| Description | Hello! I was downloading DF for the first time today, but I had an issue when downloading the most recent version, 50.10 on Windows 11. I downloaded the WIndows file from the website and extracted the folder into a new folder in my downloads folder. When I double clicked the .exe file, I received two copies of an error message: Dwarf Fortress.exe - System Error The code execution cannot proceed because SDL2_image.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem. OK I tried redownloading and re-extracting and had the same issue. I did not have an issue when I tried the same process with the previous version. | ||||

Assuming this was the classic build downloaded from bay12games.com, this was fixed shortly after. |

Same problem with linux version (50.11 doesn't solved) |

Linux is different. If you are running Classic there, you need to install SDL2 and SDL2_image through your system's package manager. This has always been the case on Linux, because distributing copies of SDL that work for every distribution isn't feasible. https://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Installation#Linux has some more detailed instructions for specific distributions. |
