Summary | 0001296: Expedition leader assigned as the militia commander mysteriously unappoints himself
Description | If you assign the expedition leader to be the militia captain from the nobles screen it appears to work. Until you unpause and wait a short period of time, a few seconds should do it, but if it fails to reproduce just wait a bit longer. Further confusion. Recognizing that Militia commander is just the leader of squad 1 you can try going to the military screen and assigning the expedition leader directly. This however, never works, he simply does not appear on the list when you are assigning position 1. If you are selection position 2 through 10, he appears normally so he can be an ordinary soldier, just not a leader. This behavior is minor, but very inconsistent and should be looked at.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. (n)obles screen 2. Assign expedition leader as the militia commander or captain position 3. wait several seconds 4. recheck the nobles and or military screens and see that the expedition leader has quit his job as a squad leader. 4a. If this fails to occur, just wait a bit longer and check again. Alternatively (related behavior) 1. Name your expedition leader for clarity (optional) 2. Go to the military screen and start to form a squad 3. when selection position 1, carefully look at the list on the right and see that the expedition leader is not present. 4. Once position 1 is selected, choose a different position and look at the list on the right again to see the expedition leader reappear as available.

This seems to have a lot in common with 0000319. |

ah poop, I looked too I thought there was an open report somewhere but couldn't find it. I do think I've pretty effectively isolated this one though. Near as I can tell it's only the expedition leader/(mayor?) that does this. Although I'm always willing to rethink my theory if new evidence surfaces. |

I can't get the expedition leader to stealth-unassign in the absence of a squad. I fixed an issue with it paying too much attention to position precedence (handles your alternative reproduction) and I've dealt with the squad problem with all militia commander assignments. Something about all of that might have cleared it up. If the stealth-unassignment is still happening in 0.31.07, we can look at it again. |
