Summary | 0013092: Clicking to move resets to starting speed for the gait
Description | In Adventure Mode, when I use the arrow keys to run or sprint, I pick up speed (as seen in the Movement Options menu) with each step until I reach top speed. For sprinting, it takes about ten steps; for running, it only takes five. After reaching top speed, I can open Movements Options and see that I'm moving at the predicted top speed, close the menu, continue moving in the same direction, open Movement Options again to confirm I'm still at top speed. This is all as expected. However, when I start from a standstill and choose sprint, but I instead click the mouse ten or more steps ahead, or choose run and click five or more steps ahead (in a straight line along a cardinal compass direction), then when I reach the clicked-on tile and check my speed in the Movement Options menu, it's always at the starting speed. It behaves as it would if I were pushing the comma key (,) to wait a tick before checking my speed.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Push comma (*,*) to wait a tick without moving, to make sure you're at starting speed. (Maybe wait an hour to make sure you're completely rested, if you've been doing anything strenuous like running.) 2. Open the Movement Options menu by pressing *m*. 3. Set your gait to a sprint by pressing *a*. 4. Close the menu by pressing *Esc*. 5. Click on a tile twelve tiles away in any cardinal compass direction. 6. Observe that your movement speed is listed as 1.3/2.6, or the starting speed for your character, instead of simply 2.68, or the top speed for your character.

I noticed (on ota) if you click a tile right next to your character, it'll keep the speed gains (with respect to direction), but clicking on any tile beyond 1 tile will reset the speed. Maybe it has something to do with the "Finishing up..." pop-up. |
|
Right clicking and selecting "Path to here" also resets speed. The issue only applies to the new pathfinding method of movement. |
