Summary | 0013160: Keyboard cursor jumps multiple tiles instead of a single tile
Description | When using the keyboard cursor to make designations, the cursor jumps a couple of tiles like I have shift pressed for the "fast" mode, even if I dont. This happens in both classic and steam version and is independent of the graphics used (ascii and sprites). This issue is a regression from 51.10 where it was still working correctly, in 51.11 it isn't anymore.
Steps To Reproduce | Start the game, create a new world and embark on it Go to settings, enable keyboard cursor in "Game" tab click "m" to start a mining designations and use the arrow keys to move the yellow cursor rectangle IS: the cursor moves multiple tiles in the direction of the arrow key that was clicked a single time SHOULD: the cursor moves a single tile in the direction of the arrow key that was clicked a single time

In the past, there were two different sets of keyboard speeds: cursor movement (1 tile, 10 with shift), and scrolling when the cursor wasn't visible (10 tiles, 20 with shift). Version 51.11 seems to have merged those two together. |
|
This is not minor severity. It breaks macros and is a major usability regression. |
|
As a workaround, most of the 51.10 behavior can be returned by modifying the "keyboard scroll tiles" settings and "Move view/cursor" keybindings. I currently have the former set to 1 tile, 10 fast, and the latter set to fast on w/a/s/d, slow with shift. That leaves me without fast view movement keys, but very few macros used them. It even reproduces 51.10's broken application of the shift key to the cursor, but that seems to be a different bug entirely. |
