| Description | Expected behaviour: If a stationed marksdwarf is in combat and runs out of ammo, they run to go refill that ammo, then return to their station once they have ammo. Observed behavious: If a marksdwarf is in combat and runs out of ammo, they will sometimes perform a sort of "run away" or "panic" animation, then will return to Station before refilling ammo, and will repeat this process indefinitely. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1. Station a marksdwarf that either has ammo near an enemy (eg, trap an undead in a small box for target practice). 2. Once marksdwarf arrives, they will shoot their ammo until it is done. 3. SOMETIMES the dwarf, once running out of ammo, will panic and run away. In this case, step 4: 4. Markdwarf returns to station without grabbing ammo. Repeat Step 3 indefinitely. | ||||
| Additional Information | This pattern can sometimes happen when the dwarf is stationed and doesn't bother to pickup ammo beforehand. The ammo bug reports are quite numerous so dwarves not picking up ammo before stationing is likely covered in other places. However, since dwarves that don't have the "panic" moment will now refill their ammo after emptying it | ||||

Just to be clear, when you say they "panic", do they have the blue "terrified" thought bubble? Or do they say "I must withdraw!" in their battle report? edit: Just tested it and they did have the "I must withdraw!" in the battle report. And like the OP, it doesn't happen all the time even when it involves the same unit. edit2: After running away and calming down they will eventually revert to Pickup equipment while on their way back to their Station/Patrol point. |
