Summary0013233: Most migrants and monster hunters are peasants with no skill
DescriptionMy migrant waves are mostly peasants with the new update. I first noticed it in a modded world where all but 2-3 of my migrants were peasants and all of my monster hunters also had no skill, but wanted to ensure this was an actual game bug and not a mod thing. Sure enough, after starting a new world, my first migrant wave of 7 dwarves had 4 peasants with absolutely no skill, and checking one of the visiting monster hunters also showed exactly no skill in anything despite them supposedly always having at least 3 skill in their weapon. I've also noticed people on steam and reddit with this exact issue as well.
Steps To ReproduceJust start a new world and wait till migrant wave 1. You should get at least 50% peasant. Breaching the caverns will allow for testing monster hunters.
Additional InformationI was using the latest version of DFHack as well, in case that's the problem.

Additional note that I realized when loading the save again: two of those peasant migrants came with picks and the mining labor enabled despite having no mining skill, implying that they should have come with the mining skill. I'd attack the save, but to be honest, I don't know how.

Same thing happens to me. All the migrants are peasants with no skills. Also one of them came with a pick but without any mining experience. 52.02 and no mods.

I've also noticed this and can confirm that skillless "peasants" will sometimes show up with a pick in hand and mining labor profile enabled.

For me, in addition to monster hunters, other residence-petitioners (mercenaries, performers, and scholars) almost always have no skills, aside from "dabbling" in social skills (which likely just comes from interacting with citizens and other visitors while at my fort).

I haven't been having the "nothing but peasants immigrating" issue consistently, but it has happened once or twice, in rather large migration waves too.

52.03 seems to have fixed this issue, as I stopped having it when I updated and started a new world. I'll mark it resolved.
