| Summary | 0013432: Game crashes a few seconds after civilians get restricted to burrow (alert or otherwise) | ||||
| Description | (Probably) since 53.09, my game reproducibly crashes about 5 seconds after I activate a civilian alert or manually assign my civilians to a burrow (doesn't have to be the alert burrow). I tried to identify whether a specific civilian is responsible, but doesn't seem so. I played on for several minutes without activating the alert, ending the ongoing siege without crashes. Activating a burrow afterwards leads to a crash. I also tried a few earlier saves, among those a save from the first siege (2025-01-02, before 53.09), and I could reproduce the crash in all of them in the current game version (but used the civilian alert back then without any problems). | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Load the savegame, activate civilian alert OR assign all civilians to any (?) burrow. Unpause and wait about five seconds. | ||||

here's my save game: https://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=17709 please tell me if you need anything else; I checked logs, but they didn't seem helpful NOTE: the game actually only crashed once, every other time it actually "just" freezes |

Somebody noted they encountered a problem with DFHack causing a freeze here on reddit: https://old.reddit.com/r/dwarffortress/comments/1q85xpi/dfhack_freezing/ As I'm using DFHack myself, I'll try later today to check whether that's the problem. |

Reportedly, this is a bug involving Burrow checks in general, where the game accidentally enters an infinite loop. It just happens to be easier to trigger it by using DFHack to activate a civilian alert (which is absent from the game's user interface but whose underlying logic is still functional). |
