Summary | 0001396: Children claim clothes they cannot/will not wear or store in rooms
Description | I've got clothing laying all over the place that is claimed by children. They're not wearing any clothing and the clothing in question is dwarf size, so perhaps they want to wear it but don't know how to put it on. This is clothing brought to the fortress by other creatures, creatures long since deceased. It isn't worn out clothing. This isn't the typical issue of dwarves claiming items and never getting around to storing them. Every dwarf in the fortress---including each child---has a bedroom, cabinet, and coffer and the adult dwarves have stored anything/everything they've claimed. The only items left laying around belong to the children---which I suppose mimics real life. :) I'm going to keep an eye on it and see what happens when the children in question reach maturity.
Steps To Reproduce | Have fort. Have children. Have deaths of non-fortress humanoids who drop clothing. Unforbid that clothing.

Probally related I been running a fort for some years and all clothes are getting worn out. When making new clothes, it will be claimed/stored by adults, but they wont actually equip it. So all adults are running around whit XXshirts and pants |
Children don't get the "store owned item" job. So, they claim items and then cannot store them. The best workaround I've found is to hide them. When they become peasants, they will go around and store all their stuff. I haven't seen any civilian dwarf actually equip new clothing, though. |
Children in my forts do store owned items, but I think there's a limit to how many things a dwarf can store in one cabinet. Since children have a lot of free time to claim items, they often need multiple cabinets. |
Confirmed as still being around in 0.31.12. Also at least in my case isn't caused by having too many things to store, the cabinet in the child's room is empty. |
