Summary | 0001503: Water fall into lava creates endless 'cavein' messages
Description | I'm currently getting spammed with 'a section of the cavern has collapsed' as water from a murky pool pours into a magma pipe below. It seems that the lava mist generated by the water constitutes as a cavern piece or something, and generates a warning message that part of the cavern has collapsed.
Steps To Reproduce | Dig a channel down to a lava pit, with a murky pool at the top. Let the water fall several z levels to it.

Probably related to/duplicate of 0001339? Although this seems like it's man made and not world-gen made. It's... not lava mist. The water/lava interaction is creating a hunk of Obsidian. Since that obsidian is completely suspended in liquid, it collapses. |
|
Could be. That bug's a little vague on exactly what's happening. You are right, however - all I was seeing is 'lava mist', but that does seem to be what's likely happening - obsidian forming/falling instantly. |
|
Yea, 1339 is a little... well, sparse at first glance, but the reporter eventually noticed that water was flowing into his volcano, generating a piece of obsidian and then a collapse. I don't think you'd be able to see the obsidian ever form, due to the fact that it would disappear instantly, but the lava mist is probably indicative of the formation and then collapse of the obsidian. I'm not entirely clear on how lava mist works. See http://magmawiki.com/index.php/40d:Magma_mist |

This happened to me as well. Upon embark a murky pool right next to the open volcano began leaking and flowed into the magma, causing many of these messages. Also, the water only fell in from 1 z-level above the magma. I also notice that a a single-tile column of magma mist is created that extends all the way to the bottom of the tube. This may be part of the repeated message issue. |

Ditto for magma flow onto water per 0004038. |

Still happening with 0.31.19 |

You mean the generated kind, not the dwarf-made kind? |
