Summary | 0002570: Baroness is elected as mayor
Description | My baroness is apparently also my mayor. This seems odd. (Possibly intentional, but reporting it anyway) Initially (after I first got the baroness) the mayor was someone else; presumably an election has subsequently happened and the baroness was eligible for election.

Did you ever have a "two or more mayors" situation in that fortress? Was such a mayor still hanging around? |
Not as far as I know. That fortress was started under 0.31.08 |
Just to be clear, your Baroness is your actual ruler, not a consort? |
Correct. I put a screenshot at http://s3test.randomly.org/df/2570/baroness-mayor.png so you can see what's going on without having to load up the entire save. |
It does sound like a bug, but a sortof realistic one. Like an extremely controlling baroness. |
Now I'm wondering whether she'll make mandates as a mayor only, baroness only, or both, and what kind of rooms she demands... Edit: Rooms as a baroness, it would appear. |
If a dwarf has more than one position the requirements are always that of their highest position. This means if you assign your baron to also be a bookkeeper he's still going to demand the room of a baron. I'm not this if this should be classified as a bug though. Maybe the baron is popular enough to also win popular election at the same time as holding her title? I don't think the titles would be exclusive. None of the other titles are except for the military ones, and that has to do with controlling squads. You can't have the same dwarf in multiple squads at the same time. |
I experience this frequently. In my current game the Queen is actually the mayor as well. I would consider it a bug simply because it means fewer mandates. Mandates aren't exactly the most fun thing in the game, so it really doesn't matter to most people, but it does have a net effect on the game. |
I believe this is still around, but a confirmation from a 34.11 user would be appreciated, and/or and updated save. |
I just had a vampire king arrive who was promptly elected mayor... |
I manually set my duke (no item or material likes, yay!) to be the mayor. Sure they'll vote someone else in after a while, but they seem to be getting used to the idea of having only him be the mayor. 34.11 btw. |
