Summary | 0002654: Race entities all shuffled about when a small change is made in the raws
Description | I doubled the tradecapacity for creature_equipment and creature_domestic that had the tag, and pretty much always I'll end up as a forgotten beast civilisation. Sometimes a werewolf or other critters, seemingly at random. My neighbours will be ogres, satyrs, unicorns and dragons and other forgotten beasts, up to four total.
Steps To Reproduce | First a test to see if the download is not corrupt: Install DF; gen a world and start a fort to see if it all works correctly; your race will be dwarf, your neighbours will be things like elves and humans. Win! Edit the creature_equipment and creature_domestic trade capacity values, doubling them. Generate a world - I used a default 'small region' preset but it doesn't seem to matter. Play in DF mode, enjoy being a forgotten beast or troglodyte or werewolf.
Additional Information | Mysteriously, changing the values back to their original values and generating a new world does not unscamble the race entities. Even if done by copying the original creature_equipment and creature_domestic files back over the edited versions, thereby excluding the possibility that my text editor is to blame.

Even if done by copying the original creature_equipment and creature_domestic files back over the edited versions, thereby excluding the possibility that my text editor is to blame. Actually, I'd bet money that it IS your text editor. See 0001428 and check for (possibly hidden) backup files. |
|
Oh, damn. I assumed any files not ending in .txt would not get parsed. *facepalm* And it was my first bug report aswell. :( :P I'll go test it now. |
|
Indeed, I figured that if I copied the original files over the edited ones using my OS, it couldn't be my editor, completely disregarding the creature_domestic.BAK files. Good catch, and apologies for the inconvenience. |
|
No problem. I was surprised myself when I first read about this bug. |
