Summary0003186: Glass Walls Cause Crashes
DescriptionI decided that I wanted to make a room with a window to the outside. Part of the room was originally outside, but I fixed that by constructing floors above for a roof and walls on all but one side. On the side looking out off the edge of my mountain, I instead constructed Raw Green Glass Windows. After doing this, the game would crash whenever it tried to save.
Steps To ReproduceMake a room and use Raw Green Glass Windows as a wall. May need to have the wall be outside.

Upload a save, if you will: http://dffd.wimbli.com/

Does it successfully save, and then crash, or does it crash and fail to save?

Are you getting the crashes from green glass block walls (as suggested by the summary), gem windows constructed from raw green glass (as suggested by the description), or actual green glass windows?

Crashes and fails to save.

@Quietust: I went to my Glass Furnace and told them to produce 6 Green Glass Windows. I then used those windows to build my walls on the outside edge of the rooms.

@Dwarfu: I'll see if I can replicate it again and, if so, upload a save. I had auto-backups on, so I should have a save from near that time available.

Yep, I was able to replicate it. I'm uploading the save file. I've already constructed some Green Glass Windows. To replicate the error, just remove two of the constructed walls in the residency area (Hotkey F4, I believe, but they're all easily identifiable in the Hotkey menu) and then build a couple of Green Glass Windows in their place (b->y).

Anyone else try the save and replicate it?

Dunno if bumping this to the top is necessary, but it's been a week or so and no one else has commented on this >.>

Do you get the same problem if you just make a wall out of green glass blocks? If not, should be a decent workaround. I think the only real game difference between glass walls and glass windows is that windows are destroyable by building destroyers.

Windows are also transparent, allowing units on either side to see each other, while walls are opaque. Windows also don't provide structural support, whether for cave-ins or doors.

Perhaps a glass fortification then if your concern is transparency.

I'm not overly concerned about the issue as I built it just because I thought it would be nice. I just want to make sure someone else has replicated it to be sure it wasn't some weird system thing. I replicated it myself several times, but I've always believed that it's important for multiple people to replicate a bug to ensure it /is/ a valid bug.

Reminder sent to: Briggs

Are you still able to reproduce this? I took a look at your save and am not able to reproduce with either 31.12 Legacy or 31.18 SDL.

Apparently this doesn't reproduce anymore.
