Summary | 0003195: Manual save auto-deletes itself
Description | I am a total noob attempting to go through the http://afteractionreporter.com/dwarf-fortress-tutorials/ for the first time, and as such have started from its saved game. When I attempt to do a manual save (Esc to reach the options menu, then Save the Game), it displays "Saving..." for several seconds. During this time, I can see that it creates, in the data/save/current/ folder, a "world.sav" file, that quickly grows to around 5MB. However, then it goes back to the main title menu, and the "world.sav" file disappears without a trace. The game has saved two seasonal autosaves so far, and they seem to work just fine.

This is the intended behavior. When you save a game, it will overwrite the version that you used to load the game. If you want to make backups, just copy the save file directory (data/save/???) and rename it. You'll notice that is what the seasonal backups do. |

Yeah...this was me being stupid. It can be closed. |
