Summary0003396: unconscious escapee still chasing
DescriptionA released hostile will, even while beaten unconscious or to extreme pain, not miss a single tile of pursuit with the civilian who released it. This one was knocked over several times and still kept pace.
Steps To ReproduceRelease a hostile or invader with combatants ready, watch it follow the releaser, without attempting to strike even if still wielding the weapon it was captured with.

It sounds more like the civilian is dragging the hostile somewhere (e.g. to a cage, restraint, or pit zone).

Aye, I figured that out eventually. Sometimes but rarely the hostile gets an attack in, sometimes the civilian realizes the Pit/Pond isn't a valid zone and cancels, but even then they continue.

That's because Pitting creates two jobs (at least.) Pit/Pond gets picked up immediately, and Release Large Creature doesn't activate as soon, but will whether or not Pit/Pond is canceled or not. In fact, there's no way to cancel it, so until it's dead, or dragged wherever the dwarf is taking it now that the destination zone is invalidated, it will continue to follow passively.
