Summary | 0003477: milk from animals will not stack in a barrel
Description | When milking an animal 1 unit of milk is created in a bucket. This milk may then be emptied into a barrel. A barrel will store over 20 units of milk (21 is the most I have let accumulate), however when doing so the milk will not stack within the barrel - resulting in 21 single units of Horse's Milk within one barrel. This is a trivial error, as the only side effect is to require multiple "make cheese" jobs, each creating 1 unit of cheese instead of one job creating a stack of cheese.
Steps To Reproduce | Repeatedly milk a large herd of Donkeys/Horses/Cows and store the milk (do not make cheese).

Newly created items never stack with existing items, so this is perfectly normal. Furthermore, your comment about cheesemaking jobs is incorrect - a single cheesemaking job will always use all of the milk in the barrel, and in version 0.31 it will additionally join the cheese into as many stacks (of maximum size 5) as it can. In your case, making cheese from a barrel of 21 milk will result in four stacks of 5 cheese and one stack of 1 cheese. |
