| Description | Whenever i save dwarf fortress to my computer and quit from the title screen afterwords, it has no record whatsoever of my save! I dowlaoded to Win.rar (if this helps) | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Dowload win.rar dowload dwarf fortress make a world do anything at all save and turn dwarf fortress off then turn it back on and see if the save saved | ||||

Where is your dwarf fortress executable located? If you are running it from inside an archived .rar file it will not be able to save. |

Can also confirm this. Dwarf Fortress.exe suddenly can't recognize my save files, despite being in the same directory. The "Continue Playing" option simply isn't there. Like the OP, i'm also running Windows XP. It was able to save several times before this, but my most recent save isn't being reflected. |

I'm not very technical, could you explain what an archived .rar file is? |

When you downloaded dwarf fortress it came in a file named something like DF.zip. When you open DF.zip you see all the files DF needs to run, including DF.exe - the Dwarf Fortress game itself. You can't run the game from inside that file, you have to extract it somewhere first. (A .zip file is an archive) Where are you trying to run it from? It sounds like you're trying to run it from Winrar which is a program for viewing zip files, and not actually trying to extract it. |

Ok i get it i moved it to a home document and it saves now, thanks! |

Cool. Resolving since 12121212die has had his problem resolved. Mettool, if you think you're experiencing a bug you should open your own ticket. It doesn't sound like it's the same as this one. It sounds like save corruption to me, though. |
