Description | Military dwarves would not wield the adamantine battle axe I created, went to equip menu in military screen, went to specific weapon, the adamantine battle axe was not on the list. | ||||
Steps To Reproduce | restarted DF, currently in process of creating another adamantine weapon. | ||||
Additional Information | Not TOO big of an issue, but those forgotten beasts need to be killed in a glorious battle and my copper weapons just won't cut it. | ||||

Is this specific to adamantine weapons? It's been reported that it's very hard to get them to switch weapons in general. Please try making some iron weapons or whatever and see if they'll switch to those either. |

I'm not sure, I told them to pick up a battle axe, all 3 of them, 2 of them picked up the bronze battle axe and, I think the other one was iron, but the third one never has picked up the adamantine battle axe laying in the weapon bin. All of the other weapons appear in the "specific weapon" list within the military screen except for the adamantine axe. Currently making an adamantine sword right now, will see if that works out. |

Okay, I had forbidden all of the other weapons besides the adamantine sword, and set them to use short swords, after even going to the point of dumping the weapons in their hands so they couldn't use them, they decided to train with their hands instead of picking up the adamantine short sword. Not sure if it applies to iron and steel objects as well. I should also mention when I gave an adamantine weapon to a dwarf in Arena mode, when I spawned him it crashed, don't know if there was a bug report on that or not. |

The Arena equipment crash was reported, yeah. Dunno if it's related to this. It would be helpful if you made additional non-adamantine weapons and kept trying, since many of the military equipment bugs seem to only appear after they've changed equipment several times. |

Okay, it seems today that now they can pick up the adamantine weapons and everything works fine. I didn't have a chance to play DF since I reported this, so I'm guessing that when you restart DF the weapons will show up? Not sure what fixed it, but it works now. |

Have the same problem with a bundle of iron spears I made. An iron short sword and an iron battle axe show up on the specific weapon list just fine. But the sixteen(!) iron spears I made do not. They also do not pick them up themselves when just told to get any melee weapon that strikes their fancy, they instead prefer to wrestle. I can trade them and install them in weapon traps just fine, though, so it isn't like the spears are forbidden or anything. |

I suspect this issue was due to pathfinding problems. Has anyone observed it in 31.03? |

Works just fine in 31.03. I got a legendary weaponsmith from a mood and used a custom cheat reaction to get a huge pile of adamantine wafers. I don't think the source of the wafers matters but its faster than digging it out. I made a bunch of axes and short swords and my military is happily doing individual training with the masterwork adamantine weapons. |

I've encountered a similar problem. Besides the usual finnickiness of equipping things, adamantine weapons and armour do not show up on the lists for "use specific helm," etc.. Edit: And now they *are* showing up. Chalk it up to me not understanding how the arsenaldwarf works? |

Make sure the arsenal dorf has an office and time to work. You can turn off all of his other jobs to ensure he's always available to update the equipment. What I did was to not specify material. No need to bother with it. I just said use short swords and battle axes. One squad was to use swords, the other was to use axes. The only kinds of swords and axes I had were made out of adamantine, so once the arsenal dorf worked in his office for a bit, all of my recruits ran over to the stockpile to pick up their new adamantine weapons. |

So does this particular equipment bug seem to be gone? Or is there some material problem that is still happening? |

Does it have anything to do with when the particular weapons were forged? As in, long before the dwarf's arrival, or after the dwarf had been drafted? |

im not sure the arsenal dwarf is the problem. i have one single battle axe in a bin, and my arsenal dwarf has has months in game to mark it as usable or something, but its still not appearing on the equip specific weapon screen. not sure that the problem is here (i had the axe equipped at first, then unequipped it, now it is sitting useless in a bin 5 feet from my legendary axedwarf while that dwarf runs around and wrestles things) |
