Summary | 0004622: Dwarves carried through water on the way to the hospital are never cleaned by the doctor, die of infection
Description | If an injured dwarf is cleaned off by going through water (such as a dwarven bathtub) on the way to a hospital, the doctors will never schedule him to be cleaned. Probably because they think he is already clean. Yes, I have functioning (and accessible) freshwater wells and free buckets. This wouldn't be a problem, but this cleaning by going through water doesn't seem to actually clean wounds as far as the infection code is concerned. Infection rate is about the same as what I have observed from totally unwashed wounds in other forts.
Steps To Reproduce | Force dwarfs to go through a pit of 3/7 or 2/7 water to get to your hospital. Injure a dwarf. The dwarf with then walk (or be carried) to the hospital and be cleaned by the water in the pit. The doctor will diagnose him, and start treatment without ever washing him. He will probably die of infection.
Additional Information | If a dwarf becomes bloody inside the hospital from say, surgery, he is properly scheduled for cleaning and properly cleaned. It's just the initial cleaning that is never performed.

Reminder sent to: Olith McHuman Please upload a save to http://dffd.wimbli.com/ that demonstrates an injured dwarf being carried through water in the way you describe. |

Ok, I'll try to get one up shortly. edit: I may not be able to upload, my upload speed is really slow and it stalls at around %3 (and this is only a 6 MB file!). I'll keep trying, but this may not be possible. I was only able to get the file that small by compressing it as a .tar.lzma. Can you open those? If I had to go with a .zip, it would be 20 MB. |
|
That format will probably work, yeah. |
|
Haven't forgotten about this, I should be able to have the file up on Monday. |

Ok, I uploaded two files. Both are from the same fort. http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=4393 The view is at the bottom of my drop pit. The dwarf nick-named "Bug Example" is injured and is about to be picked up by my secondary doctor. Follow him, he will carry Bug Example through two pools of water. After diagnosis, Bug Example won't be scheduled for a cleaning. In case that doesn't reproduce, http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=4394 Shows Bug Example after diagnosis, being hauled off to a table for surgery. I have hotkeys set up for the drop pit, hospital, wells, etc. If you want to injure another dwarf, the drop pit is at F2, and its lever is in the dining room at F4 (it has a note on it). Note that I gave dwarfs [NOBREATH] and I modded nervous tissue to heal slowly. I previously had infections modded out for dwarfs (to keep everyone from dieing), but I modded that back in before I injured Bug Example. Almost everyone else already in the hospital should get infections quickly. |
