Summary | 0004798: Cloth in bins can't be used?
Description | I had a stockpile of all sorts of mixed cloth and thread. Everything was in a bin. It was a few squares away from a clothier's shop. Whenever I queued a job to make silk clothing, it would be immediately cancelled, citing a lack of silk cloth - but there was plenty of silk cloth in amongst everything else in the bins in the stockpile. Nothing was forbidden.
Steps To Reproduce | Follow description.
Additional Information | If I mark one of the cloth pieces for dumping, a dorf will happily come along and dump it. If I then make another cloth stockpile nearby with no bins, and claim the dumped cloth, it will always be taken back to the first stockpile and put into a bin, not placed into the new stockpile. Marking the new stockpile to 'take from' the first does not help. Changing the settings so that the new stockpile accepts silk cloth and the old pile does not, does not help (another bug, I understand). In frustration, I deleted the first stockpile entirely - and the dorfs all came to move the bins to a different cloth stockpile accepting bins. There seems to be no way to get cloth out of a bin, have it claimed, and have it not immediately marked for being put back into a bin. Except maybe by running out of bin space?

Reminder sent to: zahlman Do you have a hospital that may have used part of the cloth? Do your workshop orders (o-W) say "Use any cloth" or "Use dyed cloth"? If neither is the issue, please put up a save the the DFFD - http://dffd.wimbli.com/ and post a link here. |

This is almost certainly a dupe of 0000287 or 0000771 |

I would agree with kwieland, but burrows can cause situations like this as well. Without an update on the particulars from the OP, I'm resolving this as unable to reproduce. |
