duplicate of | 0004164 | confirmed | In mountain biome, clay cannot be farmed, and grass does not regrow |
In what version of Dwarf Fortress did you generate your world? |
This same one |
Hot or mountain biome? I have noticed grass not growing back in scorching tropical biome, probably due to it being too hot. |
It is a temperate biome with full seasonal change, im in a semi mountanious area. |
the mountain still dont grow back, did you try on the soil? |
When its eaten it leaves either a clay or a sandy soil, the mountanious area with the sand(only floor deep) is where i have most of my pastures, because of the open area, i had a few that overlapped the clay area (floor and 1 tile below deep) those dont seem to have regrown either (i used prefect map generator a while back, but not for this map not sure if that could have done something) |
This still seems to exist in 40.05, even with the mountain grasses. My animals eat until there's nothing but sand, then it refuses to grow back or spread. |
As a temporary workaround: If you channel into soil, even in a biome where grass doesn't normally grow (e.g. deserts) you'll begin to get grass in the channeled soil. This, of course, does not work if channeling down even just one z-level puts you in the stone... which is more likely than usual in a Mountain biome. Your mileage may vary accordingly. |
