| Description | I have been playing DF fine for the past two weeks but then yesterday my game began crashing. The game freezes and the sounds stops and plays the note that it was on at the time of crash. My computer also freezes and I am unable to perform any functions to resolve the freeze except for restarting the computer. I recently installed a graphical pack and thinking that it may be the problem, saved my game to another location, reinstalled and played the saved game. It worked for several minutes but then crashed once more. This crash can occur at any time, looking around, building, on the military screen. | ||||

If Windows itself is locking up, it's very likely that you have either a hardware problem (e.g. CPU or GPU overheating, faulty RAM) or a bad device driver - by design, userland applications by themselves aren't capable of crashing the entire operating system. |

Ditto Quietust, sounds like a full-system lockup, especially with the stuck sound. A DF-only crash would either keep the sound playing normally or kill it completely. |

Reminder sent to: Syrinth You mentioned this crash happened while looking around and certain other situations that might be a result of having TrueType turned on - can you verify this? As already suggested, the freezing of your computer is most likely unrelated to DF itself. |
