I'm pretty sure this is a deliberate feature to prevent overpopulation... |

Correct. It's a safeguard put in after catsplosions ground people's forts to a halt. |

Well, it may be called a feature. Still, I would like to have ability to modify this limit - but it is rather feature request. |

I knew I had seen that somewhere - on http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/dev_single.html Req374, PET CAP, (Future): Evaluate alternatives to the 50 per type animal cap. So it should be confirmed it works as intended at the moment. |
