Summary0004964: Marble not recognized
DescriptionEmbarked on a site with large sections of marble. None of the jobs I've tried involving marble recognize it as being applicable.

This includes but may not be limited to:
-Anything built in Mason's, Crafts, or Smelter (as flux) workshops
-Use as an accessory for decoration on other, non-marble objects
-Not recognized as a viable building material for workshops, walls, etc.
Steps To ReproduceThis seems to be happening right from the start.
I tried abandoning, then reclaiming (it was a good site), with no effect. Tried starting a new site nearby with same results. Used third party utility to find marble elsewhere in the world; still not recognized.

Am currently generating a new world to attempt to solve the problem.

Have you verified that Marble is not flagged as Economic in the Z->Stones list?
If it is marked as such, then it explains everything you're seeing, but it'd still be a bug because layer stones present in your embark are supposed to be flagged as non-economic even if they have a special use (which is the case for Marble, Limestone, Dolomite, and Chalk).

I've confirmed that Marble is not flagged as Economic. Strangely, Maple logs are now having the same problem (or maybe they always have and I didn't notice). Also after a bit more troubleshooting, I've discovered that materials I take on the embark screen are not affected, only those produced on-site.

It's possible that the difference isn't that they weren't purchased during embark but that they are lying on the ground (stuff purchased on embark is stored in the Wagon until you stockpile it).

Is there anything unusual about your embark region (cave-ins on embark, unusually tall caverns, magma sea draining into HFS, etc.)? A save file might be useful in narrowing this down.

It seems like it is forbidden. Could that be the case?

Forbidden is the problem, actually. I couldn't say why, but each time I mine Marble or cut down a Maple, the resource starts out forbidden. Enabling access to each piece is a bit of a pain, but it does provide a workaround.

The stones/logs weren't forbidden when you mined/cut them - they were forbidden when you abandoned and reclaimed.

Reminder sent to: Thrash Driveshaft

Does Quietust's description of the problem explain your situation (items were forbidden on reclaim)?

Quietust's description is not quite accurate. Also my explanation is a little vague. As of right now, if I cut down a Maple tree or mine Marble, the resulting resource is immediately flagged as forbidden. As in, the items I have produced since the reclaim. These were not logs or stones left from the last fortress.

You aren't using any third-party utilities, are you? The only items that can ever get auto-{forbidden} are ammunition, corpses/body parts, and objects previously held by units who just died.

Please post your save file.

Well now I just feel dumb. Turned off Dwarf Therapist, and now everything works fine. Guess I'll go let those folks know that there's some sort of conflict. Sorry to waste your time, guys.
