| Summary | 0000500: Channeling Frozen Aquifer results in Miners encased in ice | ||||
| Description | Embarked on frozen area with Aquifer. Mined down to 1Z above the aquifer channeled a 1x5 area. The area froze as it should but because miners now dig out ramps with channels the miners also now path through those ramps and result in miners encased in ice. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Dig down to an aquifer on a frozen area and channel a 1 x 5 area into the aquifer. Before you complete the task at least 2 miners will have frozen themselves into the ice. They path down the ramp into the channel an instant before it freezes with ice. | ||||
| Additional Information | Happens every time. Abandoned a few forts cuz of this. I dont do the frozen with aquifer embarks now :) To difficult to punch through the aquifer with Urist McPopsicle | ||||

Workaround: designate aquifer layer as "restricted" travel zone before digging, or assign miners to a temporary burrow that includes only the above-aquifer level. |

As a code-workaround, maybe let the pathing changes delay for a tick when channelling? There's a similar bug with breaching into magma flows, where dwarves will path down the ramp right into magma's path. |

Or just change channeling back how it used to work. |

I'd say this is expected behavior given the way channeling works. The specific pathing behavior observed here may have changed in recent versions (e.g. with the job priority rewrite). |
