Summary0005071: Miner refusing to work
DescriptionJust generated a new world and one of my two miners is listed as having no job. There is mining designated in an accessible area, they have mining enabled as a labour and they are holding a pick in their left hand. Forbidding and/or attempting to dump the pick have had no effect, neither has turning mining on/off as a labour.

 The way you dug has broken your ramp.
You will find that the dwarf above can't go down and the one below can't go up.

for ramps to work, you need to set them up like this:

    \____
not
___
___\

which probably turns them into
___
___/
with the ramp turned towards the wall.


You can fix this by digging out everything around the upper level ramp, allowing it to be accessed from the other side

I downloaded your save. The miner with "No Job" can dig just fine; the problem is that she can't path down to where the other miner is working -- ramps can't double back like that. http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/DF2010:Ramp#Movement_Using_Ramps
