Summary | 0006018: Ghost claims bedroom of living spouse
Description | I just noticed that the Engraver that fell over the falls (the removal of ramps helped, but the way the biomes unfroze made them think they could cross safely when they could not), still claims the bedroom of his spouse despite having been dead for nearly a year. He was dead before I designated the room as a bedroom, let alone before the spouse claimed the room. I'm not sure this counts as a bug, but wanted to report it in case this was -not- intended behaviour.
Steps To Reproduce | 1) Have a dwarf with a spouse die. 2) Assign the surviving member of the pair a bedroom 3) Check the room assignment data

Wait, is there an actual ghost or just a dead dwarf? |
An actual ghost. He went over the falls, landed on his head and drown, came back as a ghost six months or so later. After I got my third migrant wave I was checking bedroom assignments to see if any rooms were as yet unclaimed when I noticed Ghostly Engraver as the second assignee on one of the rooms (his spouse being the other). Neither he nor his spouse (the only two in my first migrant wave) had claimed a room before he died. |
Why is this a bug? It seems like arguably a reasonable thing for some ghosts to do. |
Can someone else claim the bedroom? Also if you want to look into this try kicking him about and see if he claims another designated bedroom. |
@Foot: I filed this in case it was considered a bug. I've got no issues with it being closed as "works as intended". ;) The Ghostly Engraver's wife also claims the room, so I'm pretty sure the ghost will show up on any room she claims. |
I would assume it's caused by the persistent soul which allows for features like necromancy and werebeasts. |
