Summary | 0006337: Objects in room (Specifically Justice and Hospitals) are used incorrectly based on designation
Description | In a jail cell (justice room from a chain) I placed a bed, table, chairs, and a drink and separate prepared food stockpile for inmates. Despite the room being designated for justice use, dwarves will sleep in the beds and eat at the table. It seems logical that objects in a designated room, be used based on the designation. For example, in hospitals beds should likely only be available for patients. Missing logic for dwarfs to utilize room amenities based on the room designation needed. Low priority but could be addressed. Perhaps internal logic to forbid furniture in justice rooms then assign ownership on the fly to the dwarf assigned to the room? perhaps a tick check before using a an object to see if object is in a designated room and if that room designation is not valid for the dwarf, ignore that object and try another one?
Steps To Reproduce | Make a 3x3 room with a chain in the middle. Set the room for justice. Add a bed, table and adjacent chair. Watch as a dwarf who has been locked up sits there, able to use the bed and chair\table as needed but watch as everyone else also uses it.
Additional Information | Low priority but an irritating logic hole for those of us playing DF in 'Prison' mode treating migrant waves as incoming inmates. Also would help with keeping hospital traffic down without people using all the beds up leaving none for wounded.

It isn't necessarily bad for the dwarves to use furniture designated for justice or hospital if they don't have alternatives, but I have consistently noticed that dwarves don't prioritize communal dining halls for eating. They'll eat at the nearest table unless they are assigned a personal dining room. |
|
Additional instance is a noble's home which contains a dining area with 4 tables and 4 chairs. The dining area created from a table and that table is assigned to the noble. The other tables are still used despite the area not being defined as a meeting hall. |
