Summary | 0000651: Compound brain fracture
Description | When smacking around a hydra with a warhammer, wounds to the brain tissue on the health or description screen list the injury as a compound fracture. However, the skull is already listed as having a compound fracture, so this seems like an odd text oversight.
Steps To Reproduce | Hit something in the head in the hammer in Arena mode with a high enough skill. (Note: the brain actually has to be injured, which upon attempts at reproduction, is kind of hard to do!) Assume control of the hit creature. Look at the description or health screen.

This is the game's way of telling you that the skull and brain are both involved in the same compound fracture situation. It would be clearer if it said "torn by compound fracture" or something, though. |
That's kind of what I was thinking, to be honest, but causing terrible injuries to the skulls of other critters didn't produce any similar effects or brain injuries. Could be that it's easiest with a hydra, but... |
Yeah, I might be wrong about that -- it's possible there's something bizarre going on, like the brain getting compound-fractured back into the skull. |
It's reported a compound fracture of the heart for me which seemed odd. The dwarf also survived as explained here: 0000309. |
I had a forgotten beast with a trunk, and its trunk got fractured. So either the trunks of forgotten beasts have bones in them, or it's the muscles in the trunk which is getting fractured. |
I have adventured and given enemies fractured lungs and many times I get compound fractures on my nail Makes sense, I guess it should be able for the nail to end up getting a splinter thru my finger I guess |
and for organs its that it uses descriptors for bones, like a yellow (begining to lose function and is begining to become damaged) is listed as "fractured" while a red (pretty much destroyed, the worse a organ can be) is listed as "broken" |
This kind of explains my dwarf who had a Compound fractured Left Hip Bone and Compound Fractured Left Hip Muscle. If it's to represent that the fracture is tearing out some of the muscle I guess it makes sense, but it could definately be worded better. Verified for DF 31.18 |
