Summary | 0006966: NPC will claim not to know where a target is, then give directions to the player
Description | I'm just going to put all the bugs/wonky effects/general things that need fixing I've found with the conversation system here instead of filing separate reports for all of them, as that would take too much time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can't ask someone their name if you skip the greeting, which you have to do if they're in combat. You learn their name anyway when they die, which also needs to be fixed. You can also see their name by reading their physical description. -Possible solution: Add "ask for name" to conversation options, remove names from bodies/descriptions if player doesn't know them. If you ask about troubles and get an entity to kill but no location, you can still ask for and receive directions to it even if the person telling you doesn't know the target is there. -Possible solution: Remove ability to ask for directions if speaker doesn't know where the target is. If you tell someone about you killing something your next option is to ask them where you or the thing you killed are. Also, if you ask anyone where you are they'll tell you they don't know. -Possible solution: Make an exception for asking directions after reporting a kill you performed, add special response for asking about self ("You're right in front of me you fat git") People, places, and organizations don't appear in the quest log unless you're told about them specifically. In fact, I'm not sure groups appear at all, after everything I've done the only groups I have on my list are the governments of my hometown and civilization. I don't even have anything on the civ my lady told to harass. -Possible solution: Add any names said within earshot to list of things you can ask directions to. The list of deeds to report gets clogged up by "fights" with any wild animal that looks at you funny, making it difficult to report any worthwhile kills you've made. -Possible solution: Better filter system / Give sentient kills priority on the list over attacks, demands of surrender, and animals glaring at you ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also, not a bug, but there really needs to be an option to ask for information other than directions about a specific person/region/site/group. It would make learning the history of the world organically, without leaving to check Legends mode, much easier.

Another bug I forgot to mention: If you select the "shout out to everyone" option but don't actually say anything, you cannot select a target to talk to until you resume shouting and say goodbye. |

Retitled the reflect the only item that seems like a genuine bug. |

It's not that they claim not to know where, but that they don't specifically mention the site location in the trouble text. There are 2 trouble types, beasts from underground which doesn't mention the site at all: Inod Skzulunl, general: A beast from underground has been assailing us. The creature is straz Pastbalance the giant bat. You: Can you tell me the way to Roofgloomy? Inod Skzulunl, general: Roofgloomy is far to the north. [You receive a detailed description.] And groups which mentions the site, but by using the word "somewhere" implies to not know the exact location: Issha Lodbistkash, law-giver: Particular outlaws have been causing us much hardship. They have a camp called Wealthscarnage somewhere in The Prairie of Picks. You: Can you tell me the way to Wealthscarnage? Issha Lodbistkash, law-giver: Wealthscarnage is nearly a day's travel to the west. [You receive a detailed description.] For the first case, text could be added, something like "and has made a lair of %site in %region". For the second case just remove the word "somewhere". |

I did just get this in 40.19 from a demon companion: Cish Gamooce Cishsor Sath, master: A great beast threatens to bring ruin upon our people. The creature is Aweme Saviorcallus the Most Key the hydra. I'm not sure exactly where to look. This vile fiend has killed sixty in her lust for murder! As one of the usual responses to this was the option to ask for directions to the site despite his being "not sure exactly where". You: Can you tell me the way to Braininks? Cish Gamooce Cishsor Sath, master: I don't know myself, and I don't even know anybody that could tell you. He doesn't know where anything is, at least on this side of the pocket island. Also, we killed that hydra a day ago in Braininks. |
