Summary | 0007489: Caged Flying Squirrel (tame) doesn't show up in Pen/Pasture
Description | So the Elves came by (refusing my barrels I'll show you!) with their berries and twigs. I saw a flying squirrel, and thought, hey I wonder what that tastes like? I purchase it, it's assigned to an Animal Stockpile, and I go to release it into the wild in hopes of gaining another flying squirrel in case we like the taste of it. It doesn't show up in Pen/Pasture or in the Z-menu, so not only can I not release it, but I can't even eat it.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Purchase a flying squirrel (or any elvish trained animal, I'm not sure it's restricted to the flying squirrels.) 2. Attempt to Pen/Pasture it, won't be there 3. Attempt to sentence it to death, Z-menu or V. Nada. 4. Rinse and repeat with non-attached Stockpile-Pasture after reading 34.x issue. Nope. Saved game: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=9071
Additional Information | I'll let you know how it tastes after it's cooked and eaten.

Just attempted this with a tame toad with the same effect. Seems to be only animals marked as PET_EXOTIC and NOT_BUTCHERABLE. |
|
Aren't squirrels considered vermin? I know you can Pit them, I didn't think you could butcher or pasture them though. |
|
Flying squirrels are considered vermin. You're not able to eat it, butcher it, pasture it, etc. Keep it in a cage or it'll escape, more or less, and good luck finding it then - if it doesn't get killed by a cat. I'm not sure it could be considered a bug, as this is the intended effect... but it is a little confusing all the same. |
