They never used water for cooking or brewing, however they would use water for baths, to give to the wounded and to drink if there isn't any alcohol beverage. They won't drink water if there is alcohol. |

I'm pretty sure I've seen dwarves drinking water. Can you upload a save to http://dffd.wimbli.com/ and link to it here? Also, as thvaz mentioned, dwarves prefer alcohol over water. If they are drinking alcohol, this is most likely not a bug. |

I forbade all my barrels and then I saw a dwarf going to the well to drink. I don't know why I was thinking that I needed water for brewing, although it is a little strange that I can make beer without water. |
