Was there a save that was supposed to go with this? |
Typos generally don't require saves...but what exactly is the typo here? THE seems to be emphasized, but it is correct in this usage. |
Besides the it's/its (should be the latter, dunno how it is ingame), it seems fine. Seems like it simply means that "the knowledgeable, aka the 'learned', haven't figured out what is was built for." 'The' could be exchanged for 'be', but I don't think it makes much of a difference, though I guess Toady is the only one that knows what he wanted to write there. |
Reminder sent to: newjrmint15 newjrmint15, what do you consider to be the bug here? Is it the presence of the sentence, or do you think there is a typo or grammar mistake in the sentence? |
The actual in-game text is "Its nature is still an intriguing puzzle to the learned.", so I would say that it is correct and does not require any changes. |
Agreed. Edit: Confirmed that only "Its nature is still an intriguing puzzle to the learned" is present in the executable, and fixed the typo in "Steps to Reproduce" accordingly. |
so "to the learned" is proper? ?? what does that even mean? an intriguing puzzle to people who are intelligent? |
i'd also like to point out that none of the structures i have visited yet have had a description where no one was confused about the building. even if it's a pretty basic mead hall or something. "the so and so was an intriguing puzzle to the learned" so on and so forth. so every structure everywhere baffles everyone, even if it is mundane. |
ok, after googling some synonyms for learned i will no longer refute that it's improper. it just sounds really off i suppose. |
From http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/learned : characterized by or associated with learning : erudite <a learned scholar> It's possible that some structures have unknown histories associated with them - is this a young world? If not, and there are an unusually high percentage of "intriguing" structures, please open a separate report and upload a save where it occurs to http://dffd.wimbli.com/. |
It doesn't sound off. It's just a scholarly tone, as befits Legends Mode. |
