I assumed the roots, kinda like tree branches, were transparent. |

I highly believe that this might be working as intended, but who am I to judge. |

Yeah, I think this is intentional as well. 0006526 covers revealed soil tiles (including in this case) when trees are cut down, but the soil walls surrounding the roots in this case suggest that they're supposed to be visible. If you can reproduce this away from bodies of water (i.e. on flat terrain with nothing nearby on that z-level), please reopen this and/or PM me on the forums. |

Its not duplicate, because there is two separate bugs, which one is opened roots, and the second one is opening them (imho) because i even not cut them. but they 100% related. PS sorry, didnt saw that part about reproducing. i will try. PPS i have been opened part of root system (and then soil) when cut tree in edge of a hill |

I think that might be intentional, but hillside and riverside roots don't seem like they should have the same visibility. I'll change this back to "new" for now. Edit: I tried to clarify the initial report, but let me know if anything's incorrect. |

so, the thing is look like roots are just blocks, that doesnt close vision (just like spiderweb, but closing what under them (like soil). i digget hole near tree, and can see trough it (all adjancent blocks to roots). To prove it, we need someone who can in adventure mode go to roots and say are they blocking vision or not. PS Yeah, transparent. |

Considering that this has been occurring since 0.40.01 without any other complaints or responses from Toady, I think it's safe to say that this is intentional. If you disagree, feel free to reopen this report or PM a manager on the forums. |
