Summary | 0008007: Phantom Collapse/4th Dimension Dwarfs
Description | I don't even know how to start with this one. "Something has collapsed on the surface!" appeared. A cloud of debris appeared near a road I was building with no dwarfs nearby or combat reports. My miner suddenly had "No Job" and was floating in midair, along with a cat. The miner remains in this 4th Dimensional state even when standing on a valid ground tile; attempts removing constructions then canceling them (when they're next to him); and is moving around more like a ghost then anything, though is alive, in the unit list and not injured, and has no thoughts related to collapses. His underground digging was simple room digging with no channels and without stairs designated yet. None of my constructions seem to have collapsed.
Steps To Reproduce | Unknown. Current fort is extremely above ground oriented; heavily forested area with steep cliffs over a river fork; many wooden constructions.
Additional Information | You can see the "blast area" from the "collapse" to the northwest. File can be downloaded (hopefully~) from http://www.filedropper.com/region2 Rating "Major" as I have no idea how it happened, it directly affects gameplay in an unfair way, and while it was only one dorf this time, the fact that it affected other units suggests it could potentially break a game. Saving/loading did not correct the problem. Retiring/unretiring seems to have corrected the broken units.

The collapse itself may have been caused by a tree falling over. To be honest I'm not sure if they are supposed to do it but it happens occasionally. I loaded the save file up with v40.08. A kitten was crushed by the falling "tree" and the miner appears to act normal. |
|
gabrekthetank, does the save reproduce the problem in 0.40.09+? |
|
I thought I commented- it seems to resolve itself on later versions, with the miner no longer drifting lazily across open air and returning to work. Problem solved, I suppose- must have been a freak glitch. |
