Summary0008045: Organic items rot away immediately after embark
DescriptionSoon after unpausing my first fortress in my first world generated by 0.40.08, I noticed an anvil on the ground where my wagon should have been.

Fortunately, I was able to reload from the initial save. Unfortunately, every time I load it, all organic materials start rotting: The wagon, barrels, cloth, seeds, meat, quivers, and even the clothing worn by the dwarves. Within 20 ticks, the wagon is reduced to three XXpine logsXX, the picks, the axes, the anvil, and a stack of frozen booze. The logs rot away one tick later, the booze waits for the snow to thaw, and dwarf clothing has another several ticks before it too disappears.
Steps To Reproduce1) Download http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=9415
2) Unpack into data/save/
3) Continue playing Gostthîkut, in Adrethadar
5) Look at the wagon ('t') and dwarf inventory ('v' 'i'); everything looks normal
4) Step ('.') several times
5) Look at the wagon and dwarf inventory again; many items will be worn ('x' or 'X')
6) Step several more times, until the wagon disappears

I haven't seen this behavior in other embarks, even on the same machine with the same DF version. However, loading the saved game always reproduces the issue, on both Linux and Windows.
Additional InformationI don't see any particular indication that this should be happening. It's a temperate climate, and I've embarked in colder biomes without ultra-fast rotting. The location didn't seem to be evil at all. The wagon started on top of a boulder, but that shouldn't affect its contents, or the clothing.

For some strange reason, all of your items have a temperature of 14, which is around 9500 degrees below absolute zero. By comparison, the surrounding environment has a temperature of 9998, which is just 30°F, just below the freezing point of water.

Are you using a mod or were you doing some modding? Sounds like some kind of modding mishap.

Also, are you using DFhack? I don't think DFhack likely caused it without you actually doing something with it though.

I didn't think I had used DFHack for this embark, but it appears that I had, and an unreleased version at that. No commands, though, other than the default dfhack.init-example from before obsolete tweaks were culled, but I can reproduce the issue by embarking again under that specific DFHack version.

My apologies; this can be closed.
