Summary | 0008118: Migrant waves are composed almost exclusively of married dwarves
Description | Every single migrant wave that I get will have all married (or widowed) dwarves and their children (as many as will fit for the current pop cap), except for one or, at most, two completely single dwarves. I find it odd that married couples comprise 90% of the migrants on a world map.
Steps To Reproduce | 1) Civ still "alive" 2) Wait for large migrant waves. 3) Observe relationship status of migrant dwarves.
Additional Information | This makes it really hard to find a "mate" for founding dwarves when running a generational fort with a low pop cap.

Forgot to say above, I can provide a save if it might help. |
What makes you think this change was unintentional? They're drawn from populations, and most people in the worlds are married. |
I guess what I want is more suggestion-y then. Sorry. |
I'm not totally sure either way, so I'll leave this open a while for feedback. |
It was that way in version 34, also. It was only when a civilization was dead, or nearly so, that there was a large number of randomly spawned singles arriving. Even then, the founding Dwarves seldom if ever married migrants. Usually I had one or two couples formed from just the founders. |
It looks like this may either depend on the world or has been unintentionally fixed (my guess is the former). At any rate, I genned a world in .40.10 and now I'm getting more single dwarves than married as migrants. Edit: In that world the selected civ was virtually dead, which may explain it. Embarking with the largest dwarven civ results in mostly married migrants, as reported before. |
I think this can be closed because of intended behavior, depending on the world history. |
Ok, thanks for the follow-up. |
