Summary | 0008186: Transporting Dwarves
Description | Noticing dwarves appearing in impossible places. So far this game, I've had two dwarves perish in cavern areas that have been revealed, but have been sealed off by constructed walls and stairs. One was "horrified" by a Forgotten Beast (which he had no line of sight to) and when I searched for him, I found him on the outside of a natural wall I had dug up/down stairs through, before being fireballed to death. Now, I've had a combat report of a dwarf falling nowhere near anywhere I've dug, and he's now stranded in a tree in a different cavern than the one the first died in, and it's quite unlikely I'll be able to rescue him since dwarves can't seem to climb back out of trees and ditches they've climbed into. The only recent announcement pertaining to this dwarf was Cancelled Drink: Water Source Vanished (my drinking area is a construction enclosed grate over the cavern's streams)
Steps To Reproduce | Dug almost straight down with up/down stairs; caverns revealed and sealed off with constructions.
Additional Information | Interestingly enough, both dwarves have been assigned the same labors- Stonecrafting, Masonry, Stone Detailing and the "Peasant" labors. Curious if associated with my previous report of the "floating" miner and kitten.

http://www.filedropper.com/region1b Forgot upload. Adil the McMiner is currently digging towards the trapped McStoneworker. McStoneworker's combat log is still active; also notice the Crundle repeatedly climbing one tile up a tree and slamming back into the ground. He's been doing it for 3 pages. Thinking about it; I had a similar issue later in the 4D miner game; when I moved my barracks to a completely enclosed constructed platform a dozen tiles over a river, I kept having soldiers slamming into the river dozens of tiles away. Kept task killing and trying different things; finally moved my barracks into a naturally dug room and stopped the bizarre falling behavior. |

Your uploaded file on that filedropper site doesn't seem to be accessible any more. Bugged saves (zipped region folder) or other DF related files can be uploaded to http://dffd.wimbli.com/. Can you reupload your save file there and post a link to it here then? Also, it would good if that save file is reproducing this issue in the latest version of game (0.40.24 currently). Game is constantly evolving so this may have been already repaired. Can this issue be possibly caused by 0008383, units going through diagonal gaps between two layers? |
