| Description | I generated a world where the first cavern layer has no water (or maybe it's just my embark). Anyways, it has no plants, only mud. Now, after I built a bridge and then rised it, moss appeared on the tiles that the bridge used to occupy. This moss doesn't spread. When I breached the second cavern layer, which properly included plant life, none of it's moss spread either. Not to the first layer and not to the soil floors in my fort. | ||||

Are you absolutely sure that the moss isn't there under the mud? I've seen those mud covered caverns before (though it's usually in caverns which have LOTS of water) and no idea what's up with those. Could you post up the save of the fort? Strange that the regular cavern level's moss didn't spread. |

Whoah. You're right. The moss was under the mud. It still didn't spread to the sand tiles. Could this be because of temperature? It's a freezing biome. |

Cave moss only grows underground. Does that explain what you're seeing? |

Yes, but it still doesn't spread to underground sand (1 z-level below ground - at this depth I had milk freezing in buckets, so I'm assuming it's still very cold, even if it's underground). |
