Summary | 0008572: Extra randomness creeping into worldgen when trying to use seeds |
---|
Description | Specifying seeds on the command line - for example, './df -gen 12 1234 LONGBENCH', where LONGBENCH is a param set with all the seeds set to a constant string will generate different histories each time. (The initial geography and name seem to be the same, but the units differ.). When a seed is specified on the command line, the ones reported in gamelog.txt were sometimes blank and sometimes random single bytes. |
---|
Additional Information | If I give 'RANDOM' as the seed with a paramset that specifies a specific seed, gamelog.txt will report the seeds from the paramset (and appears to use them for the geography/name - but, again, the units differ.) Also, during my tests with a long history, worldgen segfaulted a couple of times - once five minutes in, once sometime after year 1700. |
