Summary0008941: Game locks up before autumn
DescriptionThe game keeps freezing and fully loading one of the CPU cores as I'm approaching the end of my second summer on this particular save. Everything was working without an issue until this moment - even playing on a bigger embark area using twice as much RAM didn't cause any problems before. This seems to be happening right around the time for the scheduled huge immigrant wave that I still haven't seen.
Additional InformationThe error log had some of my previous guests (human caravan guards) acting funny with pathing, but a few megabytes of error messages later they've managed to leave. No errors are generated before the game freezes.

I dug through my announcement log and it looks like there was an immigrant trigger that summer already, but nobody wanted to come. I somehow missed that between the hundreds of job cancellations. So, guess this isn't an immigration issue.

However, deconstructing the southern depot seemed to accomplish something. I've managed to advance to autumn, and the dwarven caravan came a few days later. I guess the problem was either the liaison's pathing or an invasion that I've managed to outsavescum?

EDIT: Apparently, the problem isn't related to any of that. It still persists in the late autumn, after the dwarven caravan came and left and another wave of immigrants ignored me. The game is intent to keep randomly freezing at all times. It doesn't even seem to be limited to a season's end, after all.

Hm, what about some pets trying to go through pet-closed doors? Those are said to be FPS hungry and can occur at random times.

There isn't a single door anywhere, and the pets that are likely to escape (like that goose that I spent half a year chasing) are chained or caged so that it never happens. The only animals that run free are the dogs.

Also, I think it's worth noting that I haven't seen even one thief or child snatcher in two years, left alone an ambush or a siege.

Snatchers and thieves: very very very rare now.
Sieges: take their time, are not sure to come.

In short, all these interactions from outside need really some units move over terrain to your fort in recent versions. They are no more just generated from thin air.
