| Summary | 0008993: One can't see what is being selected (Highlighted) in some of the menus. | ||||
| Description | When on the main menu i can see what i am selecting (A little lighter shade than the other titles in the menu) *Read description for further info. When at the "Prepare for journey" screen i can see the dwarfs and go through them but i can;t see which one is highlighted. When selecting Skills and animals i can see which ones i'm selecting. When selecting items (tools, food, etc...) i can't see what i'm selecting. When i use "ESC" key i can't see what i'm selecting in this menu. | ||||
| Additional Information | I have tried searching on the web but to no avail. I use the Lazy Newb Pack (latest version) *I have a AMD Radeon R9280x and when i updated the driver the menu selection was visible (Before it was not) | ||||

It sounds like you either have a faulty driver or a difficult-to-read color scheme (http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Color_scheme). Did updating your drivers fix the issue? I can't think of reason why only some menus wouldn't be readable, since DF only uses 16 different colors (and the ones used on the main menu are white and light gray, which is the closest color to white that DF uses). (Also, please specify which pack you're using in the future - "Lazy Newb Pack (latest version)" isn't enough for us to be able to tell what you're using, especially since you didn't mention your platform, although I doubt this particular issue is related to your pack.) |

After updating my drivers the menu selection became visible however the other menus mentioned weren't fixed. Platform: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit *Edit: I uninstalled DF then downgraded my GPU driver. I then re upgraded the driver and reinstalled DF, this fixed the problem. |

That sounds like a driver (or possibly hardware) issue to me, but reopen this report if you can reproduce this on another machine. DF does use different shades for the selected menu items, so I'd recommend editing your color scheme if the issue persists to make these differences more visible - there are many listed on the wiki (http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Color_scheme#Custom_color_schemes), with instructions on how to install them (copy the contents under "colors.txt" into <your DF folder>/data/init/colors.txt), or you can edit your copy of colors.txt manually. |
