Summary | 0009107: Dwarves stuck in idle after werebeast attack
Description | Weremoose attacked my fortress. I sicced random dwarf conscripts on them and tried to build an emergency wall. After the werebeast was slain, all dwarves went into (mostly) idle. Subsistence behaviour. They would eat, sleep and break. They refused to follow any digging designations or constructions or workshop behaviours. Hunters already out hunting seemed to be stuck on the Hunt task but did not seem to do anything. Babies were born. The situation rectifies itself next full moon. When the existing Werebeasts (in this fort - Lor [a survivor from a previous weremonkey attack] and Sigun [infected from this weremoose]) turn, then everyone adopts usual labours.
Steps To Reproduce | Unknown. I was attempting to build walls during the werebeast attack to block it out. I had ghosts out. This was the second werebeast attack in a very short time.

I uploaded a save during this issue here: http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=11239 For this save, all the dwarves exhibit this idle behaviour. Let the save run until full moon, and everyone suddenly picks up jobs again. I saw no existing bugs reporting this. However, I did find the issue mentioned here: https://www.reddit.com/r/dwarffortress/comments/3aa9ut/all_my_dwarves_are_idle/ For what it's worth, the suggestion posted in that reddit thread (retire and reclaim) did not fix anything. |

Weren't they just left in militia? Soldiers won't do normal works unless you let them go off duty. |
|
None of the militia (except one infected member, abovementioned Lor) survived the attack. There were still about 10-15 remaining dwarves who were never conscripted. |
